1.     Dataset: Dataset is a MagiCAD based project management file, which only can be used by MagiCAD for Revit, and the file name is “*.mrv”. When using MagiCAD, we usually start from Dataset, no matter create a new one or select an existed one.

2.     There are a lot of MEP related settings inside MagiCAD Dataset, like Insulation Series and regulation of Provision for Builderswork. So it is the most important part of MagiCAD, if you want to use MagiCAD functions, you need to connect Revit file (*.rvt) with MagiCAD Dataset file (*.mrv) first.
